ABOUT
Our Foundation: built on trust and excellence
Founded by Kern Kingsmith in 1985 as a home building company, Kingsmith Builders has had experience in construction for over 35 years. Our founder grew the company from the ground up in Cochrane by working with highly skilled tradesmen and placing a big value on great quality right from the start.
Craig Wiens took over the company in 2014 and has kept it's roots as a home builder but has now branched out into having both a Commercial and a Renovation division as well. That means our multi-faceted team is able to handle all of your construction needs under one roof. Being a small team ensures that you have hands on customer service, attention to detail and the care one should expect from their builder.
Kingsmith Builders values it's small town Cochrane roots and prides itself on established close partnerships with subcontractors, suppliers and customers - many of whom are repeats and referrals. Our reputation has been built on valuing the community we work in and we have worked hard so that we can then give back to better the lives of those around us. Kingsmith Builders wants to ensure that our quality, our transparency and our integrity does make for a better building experience for you and a better community around us.

Building Futures
Since 2014, Kingsmith Builders has partnered with Bow Valley High School, Cochrane High, Springbank Community High School and Rocky View Schools to run the Building Futures program. This is an innovative school year designed to bridge academics and real-life job experience through diversified teaching methods outside of the traditional classroom setting.
Land is set aside for a class of Grade 10 students to build a house from start to finish over the course of the school year. The classroom is located in a converted detached heated garage where the students receive both their formal education, where students can receive up to 50 credits, AND hands-on building experience. Throughout the year the students work on and learn about every stage of home building; from pre-construction to sale. Students learn tangible skills taught first hand by electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and many other professionals – possibly making connections for future apprenticeship opportunities and job insight for post-secondary schooling. Students who struggle learning in traditional ways have flourished in this program and all the students involved leave with experience in teamwork, carpentry, problem solving and a HUGE sense of accomplishment in helping build an actual house.
On top of all this, participating students receive their Residential Construction Site Manager Level 1 academic accreditation once the project is complete, earning valuable credits and life skills in addition to their regular curriculum. By mentoring students and diversifying their educational experience we are investing in a stronger community.

Kimmet Cup
Every year, our President & CEO Craig Wiens, slaps on his skates to #laceupforagoodcause in the annual Kimmett Cup tournament. The Kimmet Cup is a pond hockey tournament that pays tribute to the memory of Lindsay Leigh Kimmett, a strong supporter of co-ed sports in our community. The Cup's goal in 2020 was to raise $100,000 for the Children's Wish Foundation and $25,000 for the Children's Cottage Society.
Our thanks to Joe MacLellan, Jason Baserman, and Reid Kimmett for organizing the tournament and dedicating your time to raise money for so many important charities.

HERE’S WHAT OUR CLIENTS HAVE TO SAY
Our family built a custom home with Kingsmith and we were blown away by the level of professionalism, and attention to detail the team provided throughout the process. We were super impressed with how engaged they kept us during construction and genuine care they showed towards helping us achieve the look we wanted and remain on budget. In the end our home was completed on time, on budget and with quality workmanship. I will definitely recommend Kingsmith to others for new builds or for renovation projects/ basement development in the future!

HERE’S WHAT OUR CLIENTS HAVE TO SAY
We built with Kingsmith and couldn't be happier with our new home. The team is excellent, the trades are top quality and our home has been in perfect shape since the day we moved in. In a market where so many houses have been slapped together, building with a team as professional, careful and dedicated to excellence was a true pleasure.

HERE’S WHAT OUR CLIENTS HAVE TO SAY
Kingsmith built our dream home. The team was professional, courteous, responsive and personable. Kingsmith took the time to understand what our dream home vision was, designed it, helped us tweak it (by sharing with us things that we had not thought of), walked us through design decisions, and ultimately executed a home that exceeded our expectations. They walked us through every stage of the process with patience and insight. The quality of home exceeds any of our previous builds (this is our 3rd time building a home). We moved into our home 8 months ago and have been pleasantly surprised by the level service provided post possession as well. I would definitely build again with Kingsmith should the need arise and would happily recommend Kingsmith to anyone interested (which I have and continue to do).
